Join your household's Jiandu
Use this guide when someone in your household already runs Jiandu. You will sign in with your own account, open a sample document, and check that you can return to the library.
If you are the person installing Jiandu, start with the installation quickstart.
Before you begin
Get these details from your household Administrator:
- the address of your household's installation;
jiandu.orgis the documentation site; - your local username and password, or a private invitation link and the sign-in method to use;
- a non-sensitive sample document you should be able to find; and
- the person to contact if sign-in or document access fails.
Use a browser profile where another household member is not already signed in. Open the agreed address and check that it uses the HTTPS connection your Administrator set up.
1. Choose your sign-in path
You received a local username and password
Open the household's Jiandu address. Enter Username and Password, then choose Sign in with password. Use the local Jiandu credentials supplied for you; credentials for an external provider belong in that provider's sign-in flow.
You received an invitation link
Open the original link privately in a new tab. Invitations expire and can be used only once. Jiandu removes the invitation fragment from the address bar after reading it, so keep the original private message until joining succeeds. The cleaned address is not a replacement invitation.
Choose the method your Administrator intended:
| Method | What to do |
|---|---|
| A new passkey | Fill in Your name, Username, and Passkey label. Choose Accept invitation with a passkey and complete your device's verification prompt. Remember the username for future sign-in. |
| An external account provider | Select the configured provider and complete sign-in with the account your Administrator invited. |
| A directory account | Enter your Directory username and Directory password, then use the configured directory sign-in button. |
| A protected sign-in proxy | Use the configured proxy sign-in option after authenticating with the household's access service. |
Only enabled methods appear. An invitation may be limited to a particular method or identity. It does not create a local password account; the Administrator creates those accounts separately.
Do not forward your invitation or paste it into a support report. After joining, use the ordinary household address and your chosen sign-in method instead of reopening the one-use link.
2. Verify the library you can access
Search for the agreed sample. Open it and confirm that its original matches what the Administrator expected you to see. Download the original and check it outside Jiandu.
The normal library is shared with household members. Restricted documents need an explicit access grant; a copied Library or document link does not grant that access. Ask the person managing the document to check your account's grant if an expected record is unavailable.
You do not need an Administrator role for ordinary document work. Some Settings sections are limited by your role. Follow add, organize, and find a document to practice with your own sample, then save a quick filter for a view you use often.
3. Prove you can sign in again
Once you have confirmed the username and sign-in method you will use, sign out and return through the ordinary household address. For passkey sign-in, enter your username and choose Sign in with a passkey. For an external account, choose the same configured provider.
Keep recovery arrangements with your household operator. The installation Owner credential is an operator recovery secret; it is not the password to share with new members.
If something does not work
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| The invitation form disappears after a reload or failed attempt | Open the original private link in a new tab if joining has not succeeded. Jiandu clears the invitation from the URL and does not retain it for repeated attempts. |
| This invitation is not accepted for passkey sign-in. or This invitation is not accepted for this household. | Check the household address and intended method with the Administrator. Ask them to check the invitation's state and replace it if necessary. |
| The passkey request was cancelled or timed out. | Check the device prompt and start again. If this was enrollment, open the original invitation in a new tab first. |
| Your expected sign-in method is missing | Confirm that you opened the correct installation and that its Administrator enabled the method. |
| Sign-in works but a document is missing | Check the search and selected shelf, then ask the document manager to verify your grant. |
| A previously working account stops signing in | Ask the Administrator to check membership state and the enabled sign-in method. Use the operator's recovery process if your only credential is lost. |
You are done when
You can sign in through the normal household address, find and download the sample, and sign in again without the invitation. Next, choose your Activity and notification preferences.
Administrators can create accounts and invitations in People and access and use the household rollout guide for the wider introduction.
